Something’s wrong. Let’s get you help.

You don’t need to know what’s wrong, and you don’t need the right words for it. Pick whichever of these you’d rather do.

Two ways through

Call us

A person answers. You don’t need to know what’s wrong, and you don’t need the right words for it. Describing what you’re seeing is enough.

(610) 599-6195

Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern. Bangor, Pennsylvania.
Outside those hours, leave a message or send it from the app and it is waiting for us when we open.

Send it instead

Not everyone wants to pick up a phone. You don’t have to. Tell the Help Request app what’s happening in your own words and it sends us the details with it, so the work starts before anyone calls you back.

Download for Windows

Who you’re calling

The same people, in the same town, since 2004.

Whatever it is

You don’t have to name it first.

  • “It will not start”
  • “I clicked something”
  • “I am locked out”
  • “I cannot get email”
  • “A pop-up is telling me to call someone”
  • “I already called them, and now I am worried”
  • “The printer has given up”

Any of those is enough to start with. If someone has got into your system, or you have already spoken to them, read the section below before you do anything else.

Before anything else

Two situations where the first few minutes matter.

  • 01You think someone has got into your systemUnplug the internet. Not the power, the internet. Pull the network cable, or turn off the Wi-Fi. Leave the computer on and leave everything else exactly as it is, including anything on screen. Then call us. That one step stops most situations getting worse, and it keeps what we need to work out what happened.
  • 02You already called them, paid them, or let them connectDisconnect the computer from the internet and stop talking to them. Then call your bank or card company before you call us, because on money moved in the last day or two they are the ones who can act, and the sooner they hear from you the more they can do. Change your passwords from a different device, a phone or another computer, starting with your email. Then call us and we will go through the machine itself. This happens to careful people every week, and it happens because the people doing it are good at it.

A company computer, your office network, email nobody can get into, or something that has stopped your team working. If you’re already a client, call first. We may already be on it.

This is a home computer

A family computer or laptop, a phone, photos you think you’ve lost, or a machine that won’t start. We look after households too, and have for 22 years.

Before you run it

One check. The same one we’d want you doing on anything.

Our installer is signed by Borked PC LLC, and that signature is what marks it as ours. Windows may still show a caution box first. That check counts how widely one particular file has been seen, so it speaks to the file rather than to who made it. Do the thing we would tell any client to do and look at who signed it.

Publisher: Borked PC LLC

If it says that, it came from us. If it says anything else, or nothing at all, delete it and call us. Checking who signed a download before you open it works for every program you will ever install, not just ours.

Show me where Windows puts that

If your browser says it “isn’t commonly downloaded”:open your downloads, select the three dots next to the file, chooseKeep. If it asks again, Show more, thenKeep anyway.

If you get the blue “Windows protected your PC” box:select More info. The publisher is on the line underneath.

What it sends

Your computer’s name, your Windows sign-in name, your Windows version and local network address, and a quick health check: how long it has been running, its memory and processor, and recent Windows error counts. Screenshots only if you choose to include them. That list is the whole of it.

Already a client on a security package? It’s already on your machine. Look for Borked PC Help Request on your desktop or in the Start menu.
